PSA: Beware of spambots that are going around PM'ing users to scam sites. Posted: 09 Apr 2021 10:49 AM PDT Not sure if anyone here has been hit by them so far, but thought to warn anyway in case these bots try anything. Got wind from /r/halo that some bots are going around sending messages like these to users' inboxes: Hi [username], I found you active in the '[subreddit name]' Forum. Wow, this platform has a lot of early access to exclusive games. [shady website link] One of the commenters claimed they've received a similar message on the mortalkombat sub too, so it can be assumed this may affect every gaming subreddit too. So what do? Do not click on those websites, and instead report them to the Reddit Admins as spam so they can deal with it. Really, if there's something that's shady as hell (be it shitty T-Shirts with unrelated artwork, low-effort superimposed logo on image jobs, or links to shady ass websites), don't hesitate to report them to the Reddit Admins or the mods of the subs you see are being affected by them.
