Survivalist had some nice changes recently, both perk buffs and new weapons that work really well with it. Unfortunately most of the info about the perk is outdated and it's hard to collect what's relevant now. I'd say the perk is flying under the radar now, and can pull its weight in most situations.

Anyway, it would be nice if fans of the perk could dump some info about it. For example, the new Frost Fang is one of the best Survivalist weapons now, benefiting from melee expert, and can be paired with guns like the 501 to give you both trash/Scrake clearing power and healing, or even the Seeker Six (fits 15 weight) to give you something against Fleshpounds, or if you give up the medic grenades for more carry weight it's also nice with the RPG.

The classic survivalist weapons still work nicely like the Hemoclobber that turns you into a trash destroyer with the Zed-plosion perk, the Kaboomstick which is just as useful as on the Demo, or the Railgun+1 that lets you handle big zeds quite well, especially with the faster reload perk. Eviscerator also fully benefits from melee expert, so it hits very hard.

These are all mostly late wave setups, all costing thousands of dosh. And here we get to my main problem, which is one of the reasons why I made this thread: what works in the early-mid game? First couple of waves can be handled even with the knife or starting weapon, but what is the first weapon you would buy with the Survivalist in wave 3-4, when you can't afford an 1500+ weapon yet?

I don't know about you guys, but I dislike the cosmetic. I only make use of them for changing the classic characters into their old self.
