Other than survivalist, I don't see any perk get pooped on more than the firebug. The usual complaints are that other perks do what it does better, and the biggest one. "ALL THEY DO IS ENRAGE THE SCRAKES AND FP's!"

Now these are valid complaints! I do see these things happen, in my opinion it seems like what I see a lot isn't a bad perk, it's just not using it effectively. I have 700 hours in KF2 and another 500 in KF1 and firebug has always been my most played class. In a regular game it happens more often than not that I finish the game with most kills and most assists. So I decided to do this write up so maybe I could help remove some of the bias against firebugs, and help other people improve their skills and enjoyment of the game!

    1. USING FIRE EFFECTIVELY: A firebug first and foremost is a trash clearer. It can spread small amounts of direct and DoT damage over a large group of enemies. Perfect for groups of clots and crawlers. In fact crawlers (and bloats to a lesser extent) should be your main priority. Crawlers are hard to fight for many perks, zerker, demo, sharpshooter and others hate getting swarmed by a bunch of hard to hit spiders on the floor. But not you! Oh no. You toast them little buggers right up. You when using the flame thrower weapons shouldn't be aiming for the heads of zeds. You shoot at the feet! Which is right where the crawlers are. Flamethrowers do damage when hitting a zed, they do more DoT damage from setting the zed on fire, and if you hit their feet the floor also catches fire. (This last one is a huge source of damage once you get the ground fire perk) Even for zeds you dont kill directly, if you burn them a bit your still taking their health down a chunk. So now everyone else shooting down the same hallway as you are shooting zeds with 20-40% less health. This will gain you a lot of assists which give XP and money.

When I am in a group defending a room I try to find whatever direction the biggest concentration of zeds are. You are more effective the more closely the zeds are grouped together since you can hit multiple zeds with one burst. So I try to look for a doorway or hall where the zeds are forced to group up closely. STAND TO THE SIDE SO OTHER PERKS, NAMELY SHARPS, CAN SHOOT PAST YOU. Now that your in your spot, keep any small zeds from coming through. Shoot your weapon in small taps at the zeds to keep them and the ground burning, with bigger bursts if needed. Also bloats are very weak to fire, and hard to kill for some other perks so removing them is great especially because they block the head shot perks from seeing the other zeds.

TLDR: Shoot in little bursts at their feet.

2.HOW TO HELP WHEN BIG ZEDS ARRIVE: Unless your team has absolutely no big zed killers. (Sharpshooter, Gunslinger, Demo, sometimes survivalist depending on kit) just don't bother even trying to attack Scrakes and Fleshpounds. You do NOT have good single target damage and the fire panic you can cause makes head-shotting them very difficult. Here is what you should do. If there is a scrake coming from a hallway. Try to cover the other entrances to the room/area, so other perks can focus their attention on the scrake. Your goal when a big zed arrives to to make sure the Big zed killer perks dont get attacked by crawlers or other trash so they can get clean headshots. You are their guardian. This is where your Molotov comes in handy. If you have a bid zed coming you can cover multiple entrances by throwing a molly into a doorway so you can focus on another doorway. (Advanced Tactic: Once you get good, you can throw the molly BEHIND the incoming big zed, so that way the trash following him dies and doesn't get in the way of shooting the big guy) Also your heatwave perk you obtain later on stumbles zeds which can help a teammate get just enough time to escape a group of trash.

Even if the big zed is already enraged, dont worry about him other than not getting hit by him. Just keep focusing on the trash. What happens is this: A flesh pound breaks through the teams defense and is enraged in the middle of the team. The firebug panics. Stops focusing trash and start attacking the FP. Team gets swarmed by trash that's still coming into the room but now not being killed, they get stuck and cant kite the FP. Everyone dies. Just keep killing trash. Your job is to guard the big zed killers so they can do their job.

TLDR: Kill trash no matter what, never shoot a big zed.

I feel like I could go on and post a million little details but if you can just do the things I posted above youll be 90% of the way there, and if anyone has any questions Im more than happy to answer them.

Are certain perks not viable on Hell on Earth?

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 01:22 AM PST

Hi Everyone! I just got into KF2 about a month ago. have about 80 hours in game and just starting to get into Hell on earth. I love playing gunslinger, support and swat. But in most hell on earth games i've tried, i keep seeing 3 perks being played over and over. Those are berserker, medic and demolitionist. Sometimes there are multiple of them. My question is, are gunslinger/support/swat not good for playing Hell on earth?? Nobody seems to pick them. Feels like i've wasted my time leveling them up

"Connection to the host has been lost" shortly after jooning a game

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 01:08 AM PST

My friend just bought a new PC, installed KF2 on it, worked fine the first day he played it, but ecer since, he joins a game lobby then gets hit with "The connection to the host has been lost", usually within 30 seconds. Sometimes it also happens after joininh a game, usually when a wave starts.

Friend had already deleted then reinstalled KF2, and also deleted the "Documents/My Games/KillingFloor2" folder as a means to clear cache. None of them has helped.

What can be done about it?

    New bug?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2019 05:18 PM PST

I've been running into a bug recently, basically when even I pick up a weapon off the floor where my welder, syringe and knife would disappear disabling me to heal my self or weld doors, I also wonder if anyone else is running into the same bug
