Some info on Flex and how to maybe run it better. Posted: 04 Dec 2019 11:51 AM PST I have been fascinated with real time rendered liquid physics for a while now, a domain mostly explored by Nvidia flex also known as Nvidia Physx. Its captivated me for years, and the joy when i found out killing floor 2 was going to support it was more immense than i would like to admit lol. But there's always been an issue when it comes to Physx, its synonymous with lag. And more than that, people don't really understand why it lags, they run games like borderlands 2 or killing floor 2 with two GTX 1080 ti's in sli and still have occasional lag spikes, what gives? Here's some anomalies Ive discovered, if you overclock your gpus, it will result in higher max fps, but the low fps you get from heavy physx will actually be more or less the same. Even crazier? running a physx game in sli may also increase max fps, but the lag spikes from heavy physx action is actually worse. Even lowering graphics settings have a minimal impact. So whats going on here? As it turns out, physx is heavily CPU bound, in fact, The main things ive been able to do to increase physx performance consistently have been to disable sli, dedicate any secondary GPU to physx, and, finally overclock my CPU. For reference, I have been trying to figure out and understand physx better for years now, I figured this out when running the Batman Arkham City benchmark (a pretty good and consistent test for physx performance) while trying different GPU configurations and overclocks until I eventually decided to mess with my CPU when things weren't chaining much. I had two GTX 1070 tis and an i7 7700k Speculation and ideas: I believe SLI slows down physx since it requires more CPU overhead; GPU speeds themselves likely do also help, but at a certain point they don't seem to do much. From personal experience however I cant really verify this too well. All I know is I personally didn't notice significantly better performance when i upgraded my GPUs as long as they could run the game fine as it was without flex, but again this is speculation. One thing I am now sure of is, CPU really does matter. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Dec 2019 03:27 AM PST Don't think this is viable though, it takes an entire magazine from a Flamethrower using all damage boosting perks on a max level Firebug just to kill 1 Cyst. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Dec 2019 02:09 PM PST Occasionally my character will randomly throw money, usually while I'm in combat. I know you can throw money with the touchpad, but I'm not touching it. [link] [comments]
